Discover Ventspils – A Tourism Gem and Home by the Baltic Sea

Ciao, to the calm and the restless!

Ventspils will always be my home – a city in Latvia where I was born, where I lived all my life, and most definitely one of the top travel destinations in Latvia!

I speak about this place with pride to everyone I meet abroad. About the places to visit in Ventspils, the colourful flowers and fountains, the family-friendly attractions, the Blue Flag beach, and of course – about daily life in Ventspils. A peaceful, well-kept environment that’s perfect for both everyday living and vacationing.
That’s why I wanted to include a special section about Ventspils here on the blog – so anyone looking for places to visit in Latvia can discover this gem by the sea.

What to see and experience in Ventspils

Ventspils is special because of its perfect balance – here you’ll find modern companies like Bucher Municipal, Azeron, and HansaMatrix, the port, peaceful walking paths, modern libraries, coworking spaces, and a wide range of educational, cultural, and sports opportunities. All of this exists in a clean, safe, and beautifully maintained environment with excellent infrastructure.

I often imagine how nice it would be to work from one of Ventspils’ libraries or the coworking space Moomentum, or to take a quick walk to the Venta River swimming area (which used to be just 3 minutes from my home!). And on hot summer days, I especially miss the fresh breeze of the Baltic Sea!

Ventspils – with a view to the future

Today, around 36,000 people live in Ventspils, and I truly believe it’s a city full of potential – not just for tourists, but also for those looking for a place to live in Latvia. I’ve worked in marketing and communications for the city for more than 10 years, and I still feel like a proud ambassador of Ventspils – even now, while living abroad.

There’s truth to the saying that the grass is always greener on the other side – we often learn to truly appreciate things only when we’re no longer surrounded by them. And for me, that’s exactly how it feels – the opportunities, order, and quality of life in Ventspils feel even more valuable now.

Heart still in Ventspils

This year, Ventspils celebrated its 700 + 35 years, and I wish my hometown many passionate, active residents who see its potential, take initiative, and feel proud of their city.

And I’ll keep writing about Ventspils – because I truly have a lot to say.
Even though our family’s current chapter is in Italy, Ventspils will always be my home.

New chapter, same heart –
Linda
